Brenda L. (Barney) Ponton, age 64 of Leicester, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at UMASS Memorial Health Care - University Campus, Worcester.

She leaves her husband of 43 years, Douglas C. Ponton of Leicester; a daughter, Katelyn Ponton of Leicester; a brother, Harry I. Barney Jr. of Connecticut.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Harry I. Sr. and Rita (Troeltch) Barney and lived in Leicester most of her life.  She was a dog groomer, having owned Bubble Boutique and Grooming.  She loved animals.

A memorial service will be held in the First Congregational Church of Leicester, 1 Washburn Square, Leicester, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM. There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MSPCA.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, MA has been entrusted with arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may light a candle or post a condolence message.
