Webster- Joseph A. Sokolowski age 93 died Monday, December 25, 2017 at the Auburn Life Care Center. He was born in Webster, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Kos) Sokolowski. He served in the US Navy on the USS Boston in WWII. He was predeceased by his wife Lea (Jalbert) Sokolowski and a very good friend and close companion, Lorraine Szamocki.
He leaves a granddaughter Kathy Davis of Webster and with whom he lived and a grandson William J. Pierre Jr. of Webster. He also leaves two great granddaughters, Anissa and Arianna Czernicki of Webster and a great great grandson Jayden Prince.
He was predeceased by a brother Frank Sokolowski a sister Helen Akenson, a granddaughter Judy Przystas and step daughter Leatrice Pierre. He worked at Waterhouse in Dudley, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and New England Knife before retiring early to take care of his wife who had Alzheimers.
He was an honorary member of the Booster Athletic Club and an avid card player. He was very involved with Webster Senior Center and on the Council of aging until his illness last year. He loved travel and reading and attended all of the USS Boston reunions.
The funeral will be held from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St., Webster, Friday, December 29, 2017 with a Mass at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster, with burial in St. Joseph Garden of Peace with Military Honors.
