WHITINSVILLE - RALPH E. GILMORE, 98, passed away, peacefully on 
Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the St Camillus Health Center.
Born in Whitinsville, he was the son of Robert and Pansy ( Vansteinsburg), Gilmore, graduated with perfect attendance, from Northbridge High School Class of 1936. He apprenticed and worked at the former Whitin Machine Works before entering the Navy and serving in WWII in Sicily.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra D’Amico of Hopedale, his son Mark Gilmore of Norway ME, and his daughter, with whom he lived with, Gail DiMarco of Whitinsville. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 14, soon to be 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was predeceased by his wife, of 67 yrs, Glenadine (Glazier) Gilmore, his son Roy Gilmore, and his two daughters, Susan Gilmore, and Darlene LaBonne. Also predeceased by his sister, Mabel (Gilmore) Burnett, his two brothers Robert Gilmore, and Lawrence Gilmore, and a grandson, Robert DiMarco.

Known by his nicknames, “Ralphie” “the flower man” “Grampa Ralph” to many, his passion in life was his gardens and his flowers. He was a member of the Whitinsville United Methodist Church ( now BVUMC), the Granite Lodge of Masons, and many horticultural groups. He enjoyed many years at both the Northbridge and Sutton Senior Centers. 

At his request there will be no wake or funeral. A “Celebration of Life “ Service, with Full Military Honor Guard, will be held at his granddaughter, Jami and Andy Flauto’s, residence, Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 2:00 pm. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster MA is in charge of all arrangements. Condolences may be left on the website at www.shaw-majercik.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
