My condolence to the Speed family. I remember Mrs Speed as a beautiful caring person. We, The Zavala clan, use to spend the summer at her cottage at the lake. We have wonderful memories of this beautiful person. May she rest in peace.

On behalf of the Zavala family I send our condolences to the Speed family and express our long felt gratitude to Mrs. Speed and how she touched every single one of our lives. The Speed family may not remember the family of 9 Puerto Rican children and their parents that they adopted when I was only 9 or 10 yrs old. I am the oldest of the 9 and next month celebrate my 58th yr. I know somehow she knows we never forgot her or her family, that she changed our lives by all that she gave us. She taught my mother English, she gave us books and took us to the lake house to swim. I know she would be proud to know that I graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a graduate degree in Psychology and have gone on to publish and work with those young women who like me only needed one person in their lives who believed in them. She taught me that my circumstances meant nothing. That the only thing that mattered was what I believed about myself. She believed in me. THANK YOU I know you rest in peace. We all still think of you and love you dearly. The Zavalas of Springfield, Ma.
