Obituary

Pittsfield - Agnes (Czech) Kwasny, age 96, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Providence Care Center of Lenox in Pittsfield, MA. She was the wife of the late John Kwasny. She leaves two daughters, Christine Kwasny of Pittsfield, Harriet (Kwasny) Culver and her husband Richard of Juneau, Alaska; two granddaughters, Lynzey and Misha Culver. Agnes was born in Dudley, MA, daughter of the late John and Lena (Okonski) Shaw Czech and lived in Dudley for most of her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School, Class of 1934 and in 1936 she joined the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus, where for four years she entertained audiences as a drum major, baton twirler and aerialist. After her time with Ringling Bros. she devoted her years as a homemaker. She was a member of the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library and was a parishioner of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley before moving to Pittsfield in 2002, at which time she became a parishioner of Saint Joseph's Church. Funeral services are private.  Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.
