Webster- Ayako (Inouye) Mullins, 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 14, 2023.
She leaves behind her children, Patrick Mullins and his wife Terri Lane of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Kathleen Mazurek and her husband Miguel Aponte of Webster and Carolyn Mullins of Webster; sisters, Emiko Ebihara and Kazuko Kanemori of Japan. She also leaves her grandchildren, Andrea, Kimberly, Patrick Mazurek and Christopher Mullins, great-grandchildren Alexis, Adam and Ava, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles P. Mullins who passed away on July 12, 2011, her father Masaaki and mother Matsu Inouye, five sisters and two brothers.
Ayako was born in Tokyo, Japan on October 4, 1931. She met her husband in Japan while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They married there on St. Patrick's Day 1959. They traveled the world during his 22 years of service before settling in Webster, MA. Ayako worked for several years at Anglo Fabrics. She enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, frequent trips to the casino, bird watching, Red Sox games, telling stories from her time in Japan, making Japanese dolls, origami, and watching sumo wrestling. She was a devoted grandmother who took great joy in caring for and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the best grandmother in the world.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday August 22, 2023, for immediate family only. The Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home is directing arrangements. A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or light a candle.
