Dudley-Barbara M. (Burnell) Baker,age 81, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Harrington Health Care at Hubbard in Webster. She leaves her husband of 62 years, Donald A. Baker Sr.; two sons, Donald A. Baker Jr. and David M. Baker, both of Webster; two daughters, Ann M. Peckham of Tennessee and Susan B. Gruczka of Putnam; two sisters, Helen Canty of Quinebaug, and Doris Howlett of Charlton; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Arthur; and by two sisters, Mary and Peggy.

She was born in Pittsfield, MA, daughter of the late Ernest and Irene (Chamberlain) Burnell and lived here most of her life.  She was a nurses aid for many years at Oakwood Nursing Home, in Webster.  She had previously worked as a lunch lady and was a long-time girl scout leader. She was a member of St. Anne's Society of Sacred Heart.  She was also a member of the Women's Auxillary, American Legion-Post 184.  She was devoted to her family.

Barbara's funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Webster.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council, Veterans Way, Webster, MA 01570.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com.
