Barbara L.
(Jennings) Steiger
Feb 8, 1948 — Feb 12, 2023
WEBSTER – Barbara L. (Jennings/ Corsa) Steiger, 75
Barbara passed away, Sunday, February 12, 2023, peacefully in her sleep.
An impassioned wife, mother and grandmother, she reunites with her husband Edward of 37 years and departs from her children Jason Corsa, Jesse Corsa, Katherine Steiger, Deborah Fischer and ten grandchildren (Gabriel, Juliana, Seneca, Logan, Dylan, Elijah, Sula, Faust, Josephine and Abigail). She also leaves behind her son and daugther-in-laws Martin, Christina, Elizabeth and Linda as well as cherished friends in the Webster Senior Center and surrounding community.
She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. A long-time resident of Webster, MA since the mid-70's she served as President of the Mother of Twins Club (Worcester, MA) and dedicated 27 years of service as a home day care provider for local families (particularly children in protective services). While in retirement, she became a Town Representative for the Council on Aging and volunteer reader at the Gladys E. Kelly Library. She has also travelled to Germany, Norway, Ireland and the Czech Republic.
Barbara was motherly to all and had a fighting spirit. She demanded hugs at the door and a preferred frosty room temperatures. She enjoyed long scrabble games, cribbage and bingo. But perhaps she will be best known and remembered for her expert crocheting – having gifted intricate ornamets, scarfs and blankets for family, friends and craft fairs throughout her lifetime.
Barbara was the life of the party and loved to sing and dance. She had an ecclectic taste in music spanning from vintage folk and soul to modern country and pop. She was also wild about Harry. In the Summer of 2022, she gleefully attended one of Mr. Styles several sold-out concerts at Madison Square Garden.
Calling Hours will be held at the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street Webster, MA on Friday, February 17th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Her family will be memorializing her life this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gladys E. Kelly Library (Webster Public Library).
A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may offer condolences, share fond memories, or light a candle in remembrance of Barbara.
