Worcester- Barry G. Dawkins age 89, passed away at the Life Care Center of Auburn. He was the husband of the late Sheila (Russell-Pell) Dawkins who died in 2014. He also leaves his daughter Kim L. Dawkins and grandson Adam Dawkins of Worcester with whom he lived for the past several years; two sons Shaun Dawkins CA and Clive D. Dawkins of CA.; he also leaves his other six grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Barry also had a brother that predeceased him. He was born in Birmingham, England; son of the late George Henry Dawkins and Hilda Phyllis (Cole) Dawkins. Barry and his family immigrated to the US in 1975, residing in various locations over the years in Massachusetts and Connecticut and settling finally in the City of Worcester. Barry worked for over 20 years at Hahnemann Hospital before starting his position as a PCA at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital where he worked for over two decades, retiring in 2013 (at the young age of 82!). Barry was known for his strong professional work ethic, his humor, his kindness and, of course, his very British accent! He was well liked and much respected by his peers as well as the patients he supported, over the years. Barry graduated with a teaching degree from the London School of Speech and Drama, was also an artist (painter using oils on canvas), actor (playing lead roles as Captain von Trapp in the "Sound of Music", Professor Higgins in "My Fair Lady", Gandalf in "The Hobbit" and Scrooge in "Christmas Carol" and supporting roles in many others), speech and drama teacher/coach, calligrapher and sometimes cartoonist in his younger years. He enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, solving crossword puzzles, general "mucking about" and spending time with family in his later years. There are no calling hours and all cremation services are private.
