Obituary

Calvin W. Heath, age 64, of Dayville, died Tuesday, July 09, 2013, at Day Kimball Hospital after a short illness.

He leaves a son, Calvin W. Heath Jr.; five brothers, Glen Heath of Grosvenordale, Burt Heath of Webster, MA, Chester Heath of New Port Richey, FL, Melzer Heath of Putnam, Frank Heath of Grosvenordale; three sisters, Patricia Labonte of Kissimmee, FL, Evelyn Preston of Putnam and Corinne Duquette of Putnam; two half-sisters, Joyce Lefevre of Central Village and Lorraine Adams of Mechanicsville; one granddaughter; an aunt, an uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins; two special nephews, Paul Duquette of Dayville and Jesse Heath of Thompson; and his special friends, Russell and Kelly Tiffany of Thompson.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Wayland "Spooky" Heath Jr. and Roy Heath; and by a sister, Linda Ball.

Calvin was born in Putnam, son of the late Wayland J. Sr. and Eva V. (Brown) Heath and lived in the Putnam-Thompson area all his life.  Calvin was very proud to have been a United States Army Veteran, having served his country in Vietnam as a member of the 3 rd Brigade, 187 th , 101 st Airborne and achieved the rank of Spec4.  For his service, Calvin was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.  Calvin was honored and recognized by the CT Chapter of West Point Graduates.  He was an avid sports fan and all around good athlete.  He loved fishing and basketball, he was an accomplished rag-arm softball pitcher.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, with a prayer service at 11:30 am in the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the V.A.
