Sturbridge- Carl "Ronnie" Schmidt was born in Worcester, MA, son of the late Karl and Hazel (Anderson) Schmidt and most recently lived in Sturbridge, MA.
Carl graduated from Millbury Memorial High School where he played tuba for 4 years in the high school band. Carl worked at Norton Company, Tyree, and at Lamountain Brothers in Oxford, MA as a heavy equipment operator.
Carl is survived by his two sons, Daniel Schmidt of Tucson, AZ and Tyler Schmidt of Holland, MA, and leaves his close friends, Marilyn, Steve and Pat, Gary, Felice, and Spike his dog. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by a brother, Richard Tibbets of Shrewsbury and by his sister, Joyce Poirier of Millbury, MA.
Carl enjoyed camping, fishing, playing Texas Holdem, horseshoes, and going to the casino from time to time. Carl also enjoyed cooking and getting together with family and/or friends, especially for a lobster meal. He was a caring person and loved to be around other people and lending a helping hand whenever and wherever he could.
There are no calling hours. Carl will be buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Spencer, MA at a later date. Funeral services and burial are private for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl's memory can be made to The Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer at https://lustgarten.org.
