Dudley – Charles J. "Elvis" Walley, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Monday February 21, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born in Worcester, MA on June 26, 1944 son of the late Francis J. and Madeline (Gamble) Walley who predeceased him, along with his loving wife Pat; he served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war and worked for the National Envelope Company for over thirty years prior to his retirement.
Charles was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 184 Webster-Dudley serving as past post commander, recently serving as the post chaplain. Charles was a reliable and valued member of the Webster-Dudley Veteran's Council Funeral Honor Guard for many years. He was also a member of the PAV; he would help raise funds for St. Jude's Children's hospital by donning his Elvis apparel and performing at various fundraisers. Charles would also perform at area nursing homes for the residents which always brightened up their day. He took great pride in entertaining others as "Worcester's Own Elvis"; he recently fulfilled a life long dream with his daughter visiting Graceland; he also enjoyed being Santa Claus, visiting children in the hospital, and visiting nursing homes bringing the joy of Christmas to all. His generous heart, caring nature, and love for all will be deeply missed.
Charles is survived by his daughter Robyn Walley of Melbourne, FL; his five stepchildren: Susan, Terry, Debra, Ernest, and Carolyn; two brothers: Samuel Walley of Webster and David Walley of Oxford; his sisters Frances Laws of Dudley and Mary Gibson of York, ME; three grandchildren: Ashley, Nicholas, and Joseph; he also leaves many nieces, nephews; he was also predeceased by his brother Philp Walley.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Calling hours will be held on Monday February 28, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street Webster, MA, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Church, 68 Lake Street Webster, MA. Committal Services with Military Honors will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery.
