Christine (Tina) Pelkey Cooper (1963 – 2016), 52, passed away suddenly on March 2, 2016. We lost our beloved wife, daughter, sister, good friend to many and an inspiration to all. She was a person who shared so much love, dedication and exuberance for life; while at the same time experiencing so much physical and emotional pain. Our hearts are broken at this time for losing such a precious part of our lives.
Born July 2, 1963 in Willimantic, Connecticut to Joseph O'neal and Denise (Ducharme) Pelkey, Tina attended Windham High School. Tina had a 25-year career working for the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT). Due to frail health, Tina recently took early retirement, but certainly not without a fight. Tina was also a life member of the Williamsville Fire Engine Company, where she put many hours in doing paperwork, keeping "her boys" in line, and providing teddy bears to children in need of comfort during times of crisis.
Tina is predeceased by her only sibling, Suzanne Pelkey. Suzy's passing many years ago took a piece of Tina's spirit. They now forever share eternity, nevermore to be separated again. Tina leaves behind her extraordinary parents Joseph O'neal and Denise Pelkey, her husband Keith Cooper, her beloved dog Shiba, her father in-law Bruce Cooper, mother in-law Carol Loiselle, her in-laws Kevin and Lisa (Cooper) Gaudreau, several aunts and uncles, cousins, second counsins, her dear nieces and nephews and many friends and companions.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held March 12th at 10:00 am at St. Josephs church located at 99 Jackson, ST. Willimantic, Connecticut, followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph's cemetery located on Club Road in Windham. A reception is planned immediately afterwards at St. Joseph's Reception Hall also located at 99 Jackson Street in Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NECCOG (Northeast Regional Animal Shelter), P.O Box 759, Dayville, Connecticut, 06241.
