Dale I. Matte Sr. 
1960 – 2026

Dale I. Matte Sr., age 65 of Webster, beloved husband of Sherry (Lemay) Matte, died Friday, September 25, 2026, at home.

Dale was born in Webster, son of the late Arthur and Mabel Matte and lived in Webster most of his life. He had previously resided in both Dudley and Southbridge. Dale worked at Anglo Fabrics until it closed, then worked construction for a time before returning to work maintenance in textiles.

Dale enjoyed motorcycles, having owned both a Harley Davidson and a Kawasaki. He also enjoyed cooking on the grill and was known for his self-made, self-applied tattoos.

In addition to his wife Sherry, to whom he has been married since 1982, Dale is survived by two sons, Dale Matte Jr. of Webster, who was his primary caregiver and by James Matte of North Grosvenordale, who assisted with Dale’s care as well. Two grandchildren, James Jr. and Janelle Matte; his brothers, Arthur Matte and his wife Shelly of Webster, Richard Matte of Southbridge; two sisters, Kathy Nawrocki and her husband Steve of Webster, Jo Ann Fontanella and her husband Mark of Webster; his sister-in-law Jamie Belhumeur of Woodstock, T; and his brothers-in-law, Brian Lemay of Webster and Dave Lemay of Putnam CT; many nieces and nephews as well

He was predeceased by his siblings, Linda Crowley, who passed away two weeks ago, Guy Matte and Alan Matte.

At Dale’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale and Linda’s memory can be made to the Brain Research Foundation, 111 West Washington Street, Suite 1460 Chicago, Illinois 60602.
