Obituary

David Arthur Howley, age 65, of Hopedale, MA, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lakewood, OH on April 4, 1951.  He and his family moved to Vermilion, OH, a harbor town located on Lake Erie, in 1952.  David grew up enjoying sailing, fishing, swimming, and the outdoors.  He graduated from Vermilion High School in 1969 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1972.  While at Miami University, he traveled extensively in South America and Brazil as an exchange student and was Vice President of the student Brazilian Club.  David received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans, in 1979.

David's business career spanned 30 years and included working for industry leaders Prime Computer, Chipcom Corp., Nortel Networks, and 3Com.  His business experience was in designing, manufacturing, and marketing enterprise and telecommunication systems.  His interests were playing guitar and singing, photography, travel, and history. He will be missed for his fun storytelling, wonderful laugh, love of history, and genuine zest for life.

David is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Danielle Howley; daughter, Olivia Howley of Waltham, MA; son, William Howley of Tampa, FL; brother, Robert (Nancy) Howley of Columbus, OH, sister, Suzanne (Roger) Whitacre of Columbus, OH, brother-in-law, Marc (Deb) Krupp of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by parents Rita Howley (Bill) Summers and Robert (Florence) Howley, and sister, Nancy Howley Krupp.

A Memorial Mass will be held in Saint Mary's of the Assumption Church, 17 Winter Street, Milford, MA, at 10 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017.    Immediately following the memorial mass there will be a visitation with the family from 11 :00 am to 12:30 pm in St. Mary's Parish Hall, 17 Winter St , Milford. There will be an open house from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at 2 Steel Rd, Hopedale, MA 01747  for those who cannot attend the mass.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Milford, MA (www.stmarymilford.org), Dana Farber Cancer Institute (www.dana-farber.org) or Claflin Symphony Orchestra (www.claflinhill.org).  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster has been entrusted with arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com where you may post a condolence or light a candle.
