Earle C. Durkee 1934-2025
Earle Durkee, 91, passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial-Harrington Hospital in Southbridge. Thank you to the compassionate caring attendants there for keeping him comfortable. He was Dad, Papa, Uncle Earle, Earle the Pearl, Yankee Peddler on the CB radio and everyone's Milkman. He always displayed a great attitude, and positive outlook in life. He liked to say, " if I had known I was gonna live this long. I would've taken better care of myself." and "keep the pedal to the metal and the rubber on the road and the wind in your hair".
He worked hard and played hard. He worked the family farm, welded and repaired equipment and vehicles, built his log home, and helped out anyone that needed it. He served in the Navy assigned to the Airship Development Squadron Eleven, USNAS, Key West, FL. Later, delivered milk for Deary Bros., drove a tanker truck for Guida's Dairy, also operated his backhoe, dump-truck, and other equipment. He lived life on the edge, from ATV's to snowmobiles, from breaking-in horses to breaking records on motorcycles. Even into his 80's he was racing at Daytona Speedway. He leaves his loving family and lifelong friends.
A memorial guestbook is available at www.shaw-majercik.com. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster has been entrusted with arrangements.
