Barre/Dudley-   Mrs. Emily B. (Kijek) Kapitulik died March 7th. She leaves her daughter, Paula (Kapitulik) and her son-in-law, Dennis Selvitella of Barre, Massachusetts, her grandson Anthony J. Selvitella and his partner Patrick M. Murphy of New York, NY, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. Emily was the last surviving daughter of Frances (Broclawik) and Leon Kijek, retailers, of Galicia, Poland and Dudley, Massachusetts. Emily was happily married to John L. Kapitulik, owner of Almac Motors and West Main Arco,  for 64 years until his death in 2010. While assisting her husband in his business endeavors, Emily also worked for a number of years in the ladies' wear department of A.M. Kouri Company, Webster, Massachusetts. Among other pursuits, Emily was a long-standing member of the St. Andrew Bobola Polish Ladies Sodality, a founding contributor to the Ellis Island Immigrant Museum in New York, NY, an advocate of refugee and displaced eastern European children, a religious educator, an accomplished pianist. and a lifetime devotee to the further advancement of Polish-Jewish and Polish-Catholic reconciliation.  Mr. and Mrs. Kapitulik also both enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, Israel, and North America. Mr. and Mrs. Kapitulik maintained homes in Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Florida at varying times during their marriage. Emily last resided in Barre, Massachusetts, with her daughter and son-in-law. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, Webster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Kapitulik's memory to the Bancroft School, 110 Shore Drive, Worcester, MA 01605.
