Obituary

Chaplin, CT – Francis R. Bennett Sr, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Being predeceased by his beloved wife Rita G. (Hart) Bennett, Francis is survived by three sons: Gary Bennett and his wife Carol of Chaplin, CT with whom he lived for eleven years; Francis R. Bennett Jr. of Putnam, CT; Dennis Bennett and his wife Charlene of Putnam, CT; two daughters: Linda Sarrette and her husband Robert and Elaine Anderson of Danielson, CT; two sisters: Shirley Douglas and Louise Boutin, both of RI; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; he also leaves many nieces, nephews,  relatives and dear friends; he was predeceased by three brothers: Richard, Alvin, and Fred Bennett, and by his sister Lillian Bennett.

Francis was born in Pomfret, CT on July 19, 1931, son of the late George and Blanche (Richards) Bennett; He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was a life member of the VFW.  Francis very much enjoyed playing Bingo and socializing with friends at the Windham & Chaplin Senior Center; he also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods.  Francis was an avid NY Yankees fan, and he loved to go to the ocean to watch the boats; He cherished spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Francis spent quite a bit of his time with his grandson Gary Jr and his granddaughters Crystal and Danielle; he was overjoyed to be able to take his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on many fishing trips.  Francis will be fondly remembered for his selflessness; he always put the needs of others before his own.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street Webster, MA.
