George R. Woodard Jr, 88, of East Brookfield, passed away on August 12, 2023, at UMass Worcester. He was born on July 20, 1935, in Worcester, Massachusetts. George, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.
George was a loving, funny, and proud individual. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Louise, and his daughters Katherine Castle and son-in-law George, Pamela Milioto and son-in-law Joseph, and Martha Nydam and son-in-law David. He also leaves behind his sisters Natalie Morris and Bessie Bechthold and her husband Perry. He was predeceased by his two brothers, William and Richard Woodard and Richard's wife Paula.
In addition George leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Brookfield High School, George proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Following his military service, he worked at and later retired from Brookfield Orchards, where he dedicated his career.
George had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and sailing on Lake Lashaway. George's greatest enjoyment was bird watching. In his younger years, he played baseball and started in a semi-pro league. He was also an avid fan of all sports.
Private family services will be held to honor and remember George. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lake Lashaway Community Association, Lake Management Fund, PO Box 72, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
George R. Woodard Jr will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in their hearts.
