Obituary

Worcester - Gerald Melancon passed away peacefully at home on May 15th surrounded by his family at the age of 84.

Born in Manchester NH to the late George and Ethel Melancon. He was a member of the Army National Guard before joining the United States Marines, serving in the Korean War. He was also a printer by trade before retiring with 30 years in the trade in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Korean War Vets of Central MA, a member of the Retired Mens Club of Greendale and the Worcester MA Senior Center. He was also a volunteer for 20 years at the UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester MA and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. A jack of all trades he was loved by many.

He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 59 years Gertrude (Halle) Melancon; a son, Robert Melancon; and his best buddy and granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Melancon all of Worcester.  He also leaves behind many relatives and friends who loved and cared for him very much.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester on Thursday May 22nd at 10 am.  Burial will be private, at a later date. The family requests flowers be omitted and donations be made in his name to the charity of ones choice.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com .
