Obituary

Gloria Annabelle Cristina of Dayville, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on December 4, 2020, at the age of 98. Gloria was born on January 15, 1922, in Webster, Mass, to the late Theophile Racine and Azilda (Dora) Caron, the eighth of eleven children. She was a graduate of St. James School in Danielson and Killingly High School.  She worked at the Killingly Town Clerk's office before her marriage, and later as a volunteer at the Day Kimball Hospital coffee shop. She was preceded in death in 1976 by her beloved husband Joseph Francis Cristina, whom she married on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1942, in a double wedding ceremony with her brother George and her best friend Magdalene Leary.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Arthur, George, Richmond, Francis, Bernard, and Albert Racine, and sisters Alice Levesque, Helen Marttila and Priscilla Racine.

She is survived by her beloved youngest sister Lucille Koncinsky and sisters-in-law Frances Racine and Dorothy Cristina, her children Robert Cristina (Mary), Joan Baker (William), Michael Cristina (Beverly) and David Cristina (Mary), and honorary "son" Philip Dauphinais (Nancy), her grandchildren (who lovingly called her "Gigi") Sherry Baldwin (Monroe),  Edward Cristina (Diane), Jeremy Baker, Meredith McComas (Matthew), and Benjamin  Baker, and great-grandchildren Monroe, Larson, George, Annibelle and Trueman Baldwin, Ashton and Hayden Cristina, and Luke, Cameron and Wesley McComas, and also many nieces and nephews by whom she will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank Gloria's kind and devoted caregiver Audrey Small.

A memorial mass was celebrated at St. James Church on December 5, 2020, by family friend Father Peter Tremblay.  Internment and a memorial service will take place this summer.
