Webster – Harry "The Hat" J. Tucker, age 81, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at Harrington Health Care at Hubbard.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Lucille A. (Scarglia) Tucker of Webster; a son, Paul Tucker and his wife Julie of Georgia; a daughter, Kathleen Swierzbin and her husband Mark of Webster; a sister-in-law, Alice Tucker of Dudley; a grandson, James Swierzbin of Providence; two granddaughters, Lauren Tucker and Kelsey Tucker, both of Georgia.
Harry was born in Webster, son of the late Charles and Lillian (Piechocki) Tucker and lived in Webster all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years at Edison Wipers Recycling, retiring as manager. Harry was a communicant of and longtime volunteer at Saint Louis Church, serving as a lector and was active in the church festivals. He was a member of the Webster men's softball league for many years, and the Webster-Dudley Historical Society.
Harry's funeral will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 am in Saint Louis Church, Lake Street, Webster. Military Honors will be provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, October 11, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Saint Louis Endowment Fund, Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570. A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com .
