Obituary

Webster- Helen M. (Pasay) Lipski, 94, died peacefully Monday morning, March 14, 2016, at home following a short period of declining health. She was born September 14, 1921, to John and Mary (Sawa) Pasay in Southbridge, MA.  Helen was married for 61 years to John P. Lipski who passed in 2008.  She leaves her son, John, a daughter Mary and her husband Michael Shipp; five grandchildren, Megan O'leary, Hannah Lombardo and her husband Carlo, Patrick Lipski, Stephanie Sovchuk and her husband James, and Jamieson Smith; six great-grandchildren; Tristin, Amber, Makenzie, Isabella, Angelo, and James.  Many nieces and nepehws.  Helen was predeceased by five brothers, Alphonse, George, John, Carol and Joseph, also a sister, Alfreda Cimoch. Helen attended Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge,  She worked as a nurse's aide at Harrington Hospital and later at the American Optical Company in Southbridge.  When she moved to Webster in 1955, she worked as a cook at the former Webster Nursing Home and retired in 1986 from Ethan Allen Inc., Dudley. Helen loved baking, gardening, yard sales and thrift shopping.  She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter.  She hand braided many fine wool rugs.  Helen had many friends both here and in Florida where she spent the last few winters.  She said "I loved them dearly."  She was a life member of the Webster-Dudley Polish American Veterans Aux. and the American Legion Aux. As a strong supporter of the local veteran associations, she marched in the annual Webster Memorial Day Parade from 1965-2015.  Helen was a member of Saint Hedwig's Church in Southbridge and Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster. The family would like to thank Dr. Cohen, her Primary Care Doctor and Dr. Shipe and his entire staff at UMASS ICU for the compassionate care they gave Helen during her stay . The Funeral will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster with a 10 AM Mass in Saint Joseph Basilica, Whitcomb Street, Webster.  Burial in the parish cemetery will be at a later date.  Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to Veterans Organization of donors choice.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com, where you may post a condolence or a memory.
