Obituary

James B. Kane, age 87, of Webster, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at UMASS Memorial Health Care Memorial Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Virginia (Jezierski) Kane of Webster; a son, Michael J. Kane of Webster; a daughter, Judith Ann Fontaine and her husband David of Charlton; a sister, Elizabeth Kunkel of Webster; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Henry Kane, and by two sisters, Mildred Johnson and Gertrude Kunkel.

He was born in Quinebaug, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Ungerer) Kane and lived in Webster most of his life.  He retired from Cranston Print, Webster.  He was a World War II, United States Army veteran, and was a member of the Webster-Dudley American Legion.  He enjoyed hunting, golf and quality time with his family.  He was an avid outdoorsman.

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011, from the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster with a Mass at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster.  Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Joseph School, Immediate Needs Fund, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
