Worcester - John J. Tashjian Sr., age 83, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 59 years, Jean M. (Lester) Tashjian; two sons, John J. Tashjian Jr. of Worcester and James Tashjian of Worcester; two daughters, Laura Tashjian of Greenfield, NH and Robyn Tashjian of Worcester; five grandchildren and one great-granchild.  He was predeceased by a brother, William Tashjian and two sisters, Margaret Walsh and Mary Walsh.

John was born in Worcester, son of the late Martin and Sophie (Chavoor) Tashjian.  He lived in Worcester all his life.  He was a U.S. Navy and Seabee Veteran, having served in Korea and Vietnam.  He retired from the Worcester Water Department.
