Putnam - Julia A. (Ellison) Mercurio, age 68, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at home surrounded by family.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, Peter R. Mercurio Sr. of Putnam; two sons, Peter R. Mercurio Jr. of Pawcatuck, CT. and James A. Mercurio of Putnam; one daughter, Joanne Mercurio of Pawcatuck; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Julia was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Berry) Hamilton and lived in New York for most of her life, moving to Putnam two years ago.  She was a valet dispatcher at Foxwoods Casino and at the Mohegan Sun Casino.  She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the National Women's Bowling League.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, at 4:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church, 23 Willow Street, Mystic, CT.  Private graveside services will be held in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Pawcatuck, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Northeast CT., 320 Pomfret Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
