Vincent
Aug 16, 1917 — Mar 29, 2013
Dudley - Lionel (Nel) Vincent died peacefully on March 29, 2013 at the Rose Monahan House in Worcester, with family at his side.
He was born on August 16, 1917, in Southbridge and attended school there. He lived in Dudley for most of his adult life. He was the husband of the late Rose Vincent who died in 2010. They were married for 70 years. He is survived by his three children, Donald Vincent and wife Gail of Marstons Mills, Rosalie Beals and husband Dale of Dudley, and Susan Groman and husband Bob of Falmouth. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In September, he would have become a great-great-grandfather. He was predeceased by one granddaughter as well.
Following his retirement, Nel became an avid walker, traveling all over town. He also spent many hours tending his lawn and plants, which he enjoyed so much. He enjoyed reading, feeding and watching the birds, and had a special fondness for anything and everything about the state of Maine. He enjoyed collecting things, and in his later years he liked sitting on his porch in the sun and people watching.
Funeral services will be private and there will be no calling hours, in keeping with his wishes. Burial will be in Waldron Cemetery in Dudley. Arrangements are being handled by the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home in Webster. Donations may be made in Nel's memory to VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA.
