Worcester – Luis E. Montanez, 54, passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Luis was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 21, 1967; he worked as a social service counselor prior to his illness.  He very much enjoyed listening to salsa music, and was a fan of all Boston sports especially the Red Sox and the New England Patriots.  Luis was a man of deep faith who would often be found reading the Holy Bible.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Luis is survived by his mother Francisca Roque of Puerto Rico; two brothers: Francisco and Ricardo Montanez of Puerto Rico; seven sisters: Virgen, Sonia, Cynthia, and Carmen Montanez of Worcester, Wanda Montanez of NC, Francisca Montanez of Puerto Rico, and Luz Montanez of Dudley; he also leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.  Luis was predeceased by his father Gilberto Montanez and two brothers: Miguel and Rafael Montanez.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday March 6, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home under the direction of the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street Worcester, MA.
