Plainfield, CT- Maria Carmen (Ortiz) Barnett age 76, died Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Claude L. Barnett Sr.; three sons, Claude L. Barnett Jr of Lebanon, Peter C. Barnett of San Francisco, CA and Paul A. Barnett of Hamden, CT; two daughters; Leticia M. Meyers of Fredricks, Maryland and Rebeca Ellis of Round Hill, BVA.; one brother, Hector Ortiz of Providence, RI and 15 grandchildren.

She was born in Torreon, Mexico and lived here for 40 years.  She enjoyed her family and loved to sew.

There are no calling hours.  All Services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family.  The Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster , MA is directing arrangements.
