Killingly-Martha "Rena" Wendler, age 69 passed peacefully at home Tuesday, November 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Reading, PA and lived in Killingy most of her life. Rena was a registered nurse, having worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London and Regency Heights in Danielson. She will be most remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her compassion and love of animals. Rena touched many lives in her lifetime and always had a smile for all who knew her. She will be soulfully missed by family and friends. She leaves a sister, Louise Hedwig Trahan of Brooklyn; a brother, Hans Wendler of Epson, NH; two nieces, Deborah Sheehan, and Carol Wendler; two nephews, Robert Trahan and Donald Trahan; also many lifelong friends, whom she cherished. A private Celebration of Life will be held, at a later date. There are no calling hours.
