Dayville, CT. - Melanie R. "Renee" (Duhamel) Harwood, age 47, of 45 Pleasant View Drive, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Hartford Hospital.

She leaves her husband of 24 years, Wilfred P. Harwood of Dayville, whom she married on June 11, 1988; a daughter, Meghan R. Harwood of Dayville; her parents, Edward and Lorraine (Destoler) Duhamel; a brother, Eugene Duhamel and his partner Lynda White of Shrewsbury; a sister, Geraldine Sterns and her husband Douglas Sterns of Scotland, CT; her mother-in-law, Theresa Leire; six nieces, one nephew, one grand-niece and one grand-nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

She was born in Putnam and lived in Woodstock, Killingly and Dayville.  She attended Woodstock schools, graduating in 1982 from Woodstock Academy.  She was a United States Army veteran serving in the National Guard.  She was formerly employed at Fiber Optics Tech Company in Pomfret, working as an assembler.  She enjoyed camping, E-Bay and loved to garden.  She was full of life, and will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, beginning at 10:00 am in Saint Mary Church of the Visitation, Providence Street, Putnam.  The family will greet family and friends in the church one hour prior to the service (9:00 am to 10:00 am).  The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations in her memory be made to the charity of the donor's choice.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, is directing arrangements.  A guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com .
