Obituary

Milton J Teguis October 8, 1946-June 24, 2026 Son of Constantine and Jennie, brother to Peter and Alexandra (all deceased). Milt attended Webster Public Schools(K-12). He was a lifelong athlete and played Football and Basketball for Bartlett H.S. and Norwich University. Milton graduated with a BA in Education from Norwich University, received his Masters in Education from Assumption college and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johnson and Wales University School of Education in Providence R.I.

He was a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent in Massachusetts. He served at Bartlett High, Auburn High, Nauset Regional, Leicester High Schools and New Bedford Middle Charter School.  He completed his career at Wells High School in Maine.  A dedicated educator, he believed deeply in the power of learning, and the potential within every student. His ability to see students for who they were, and to inspire them left a lasting impact on countless people many of whom carried his lessons far beyond the classroom. He lived a life defined by curiosity, integrity, positivity, and an unwavering commitment to education. In1968, He started his first teaching job at Bartlett high school. A teacher at BHS for 18 years, he instructed English, History, Problems in American Democracy introducing Sociology and Gerontology to the curriculum. He coached Basketball, Football, and Golf, advised Ski Club, Chess Club and served as Senior Class Advisor. (If you asked him what he taught, he would answer simply, " KIDS" or If asked his administrative position, he would say "Custodian"(custodian of the children and school in his care). Milt married his friend of many years and the love of his life, Anne (Franklin), on Thanksgiving Day (after the 1968 Bartlett versus Southbridge football game (he was a coach, and she, the art teacher) They shared life and love for 571/2 years. One son, Corey, enjoyed the spotlight of his father's love, encouragement and admiration. Milt was, forever, an attentive father. Milton found Joy in the people around him. He loved his Family, Close Friends, his students and fellow educators…but he also liked and greeted EVERYONE he met! Known for his booming voice, his big smile, and crushing handshake, Milt was a constant cheerleader. He supported " his people" and applauded all of their successes. Even Alzheimer's Disease could not defeat his overwhelming spirit. He continued offering exuberant greetings and high-fives to everyone he encountered .  He followed son Corey, and beloved daughter in-law, Jackie, to Maine. Milt was called Zalla by his grandsons, Nicholas and Timmy, and soon by all of their friends in Kennebunk. Milt loved his family and celebrated their accomplishments, offered steady guidance through life's challenges and created a legacy of love, lifelong learning and positivity that will continue for generations. Milton enjoyed his tennis, gym, and pickleball communities. His family thanks those with whom he played, his "cousins and neighbors" for cheering him on. Milt remained "A Force"right to the end. Alzheimer's disease did not defeat that incomparable POSITIVE ENERGY.
