Miriam "Trudy" B. (Stetston) Schings
1939 - 2026

Miriam G. (Stetson) Schings, affectionately known as Trudy, 87, of Danielson, Connecticut, passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2026, at Day Kimball Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Alfred H. Schings, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. They were married August 1, 1959, at Our Lady of La Salette Church in Brooklyn, Connecticut. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Miriam (Cornell) Stetson.

A devoted homemaker, Trudy was not only a loving mother but also the neighborhood mom. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her eyes, everyone was her favorite. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, beautiful smile, laugh and love of Siamese cats.

Trudy and Alfred enjoyed traveling together, journeying across the country and visiting Alaska and Hawaii. She especially loved the ocean, and some of their fondest times were spent taking day trips to the Rhode Island shore, enjoying seafood and watching the waves roll in.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred; her children, Gary Schings of East Putnam, Connecticut, and Linda Deming and her husband, Jesse, of Lancaster, South Carolina; six grandchildren, John, Jennifer, Jim, Johnathan, Griffin and Danielle; and six great-grandchildren, Jason, Mya, Audrey, Evan, Marissa and Hannah.

She was predeceased by her children, Steven Schings and his twin sister, Susan Windrow; and her brothers, Clayton and Kenneth (Merrill) Stetson.
