Athol – Norman W. Gilmore, age 71, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at his home.

He leaves his daughter, Pamela J. Gilmore of West Brookfield, two sons, Matthew Gilmore of Athol and Lucas Gilmore of Barre; three brothers, Thomas Gilmore of New York, Craig Gilmore of Washington and Richard Gilmore of Boxborough; two grandsons.  He was predeceased by a son, Peter Gilmore of Barre.

Norman was born in Patterson, NJ, son of the late John and Daisy (Mabee) Gilmore and lived in Barre before moving to Athol twenty years ago.  Norman was instrumental in the formation of the Barre Rescue Squad.  He loved to tinker and enjoyed locksmithing.

There are no calling hours.  Funeral services and burial are private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Barre Rescue Squad, c/o Barre Fire Department, 61 School Street North, P.O.
