Dudley - Omer J. Lacas, age 91, of 4 Fairview Avenue, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He was the husband of the late Theresa (Kozlowski) Lacas. He leaves two sons, Peter Lacas and his wife, Peggy of Simonsville, SC and Paul Lacas and his wife, Christine of Tolland, CT; four grandchildren, Thomas Lacas and his wife, Ritu, Kelly Williamson and her husband, Jamin, Melissa Lacas and William Lacas; one great-grandson, Ethan; several nieces and nephews; and his cat Smokey.
He was born in Putnam, CT, son of the late Charles and Blanche (Benoit) Lacas and lived in North Grosvenordale before moving to Dudley in 1948. He was a World War II, United States Army veteran, having served in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters. He sustained injuries in the Phillipines and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Webster D.A.V.
He was a retired machinist, having worked many years at Cranston Print Works in Webster. Additionally, he was formerly active with the Dudley Little League and the old Webster-Dudley Boys Club.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Gary Noroian and the staff at the South County Dialysis, the Lodge at Eddy Pond, Lanessa Extended Care and the American Kidney Foundation.
A military funeral will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012, with a Mass at 11:30 am in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, Dudley. Please go directly to the church. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations be made to Saint Andrew Bobola Renovation Fund. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.
