North Brookfield - Richard E. Kennan Sr., age79, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Alice H. (Hague) Kennan of North Brookfield; a son, Richard E. Kennan Jr. of New Braintree; a daughter, Jeanne A. Scott of New Hill, NC; a brother, James Kennan of North Brookfield; two sisters, Cecelia Lubelczyk of North Brookfield and Kathy Crevier of New Hampshire; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was born in Rutland, son of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Shumway) Kennan.  He was a United States Marine Corps. veteran, having served in the Korean War.

There are no calling hours.  Funeral services and burial are private.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.
