Obituary

Robert J. LeCour 1936 – 2026

Robert J. LeCour, age 89, of Quinebaug, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam.

Robert was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of the late Peter and Bella (Dion) LeCour, and lived in Florida before moving to Quinebaug 16 years ago. As a young man, he played drums in a family band alongside his mother, who played piano, and his father, who played saxophone. He spent more than 40 years as a skilled machinist, a trade in which he took great pride. Throughout his life, he held many other jobs, including serving briefly as a postmaster, working at Sam's Club, and mowing lawns for many years. He also served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Robert was known for his willingness to help others. In his later years, he enjoyed his early morning daily walks through Quinebaug Park, where he made many friendships and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Jordache) LeCour, who passed away on March 21, 2020.

He leaves his children, Robert LeCour and his wife Kathy of Palmetto, Florida, Jacqueline Simoes of Quinebaug, Connecticut, his dear friend and companion, Doris Sacco; grandchildren, Sabrina Webb and Wesley Simoes; and great-grandchildren, Stella and Scarlett.

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home & Cremation, 48 School Street, Webster, has been entrusted with his arrangements. A memorial guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com.
