Robert J Lilla Jr., 93, passed away, Tuesday December 19, 2023 in Milford Regional Hospital after a short illness.

He is survived by his four children, Clifford of Webster, Susan Montville and her husband Robert of Dudley, Michael and his wife Frances of Whitinsville, and Jeffrey of Rhode Island, he also raised his grandchild, Jamie Lilla and was a devoted grandfather to Renee Carlson, Brian and Steven Montville, Erik and Kristen Lilla. He also had 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Ann Birtwell Lilla who he had a close relationship with. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years Inge E. (Stier) (2014) who he met in Offenbach, Germany when he was in the USAF. He was born in Webster, son of the late Robert Lilla and Julia (Gawle) Lilla and lived in Webster all his life till recently moving to Whitinsville with his son.

Robert was a Korean era US Air Force veteran.  He worked for many years as a lineman, then manager at Verizon.

He was an avid duck hunter when he was younger, loved going deep sea fishing for blue fish and striped bass, ice fisherman, and loved spending time at Fort Getty in Jamestown, RI where he spent his summers camping. He also loved attending his garden.

There are no calling hours and a private burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace at a later date.
