Shirley E. (Beal) Giakoumis 1930 – 2026

Shirley E. (Beal) Giakoumis, age 95, beloved wife of the late Frank P. Giakoumis, died on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Webster Manor after a long battle with dementia.

Shirley was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Walter S. and Thelma (Nason) Beal. She moved to Webster in 1949, where she raised her family. Shirley worked at N & J Donuts in Oxford, Massachusetts for more than 20 years,

Shirley enjoyed crocheting, especially baby blankets for Project Linus. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Webster and was a member of the Golden Bees, who make sleeping bags for the homeless. She loved to play cards, Yahtzee, and beat everyone at Scrabble. Shirley also never turned down an opportunity to go to the casino.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Tina Giakoumis and her husband Jeff Turner of Walpole, NH; by a grandson, Marvin Anderson and his wife Tracey Cosgrove of Dearborn, MI; the sister of her heart Joann Ligue of O'Fallon, MO, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughters, Nancy Giakoumis, Sheila Giakoumis, and Arlene Anderson, and by her son, Dennis Giakoumis. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Donald Beal and David Beal, and by her sisters, Marion Atwell and Pauline Re.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10th at 11:30 am in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster, MA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Two charities that were very close to Shirley's heart.
