Mitchell
Apr 13, 1940 — Jan 27, 2022
East Brookfield – William G. Mitchell, 81, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.
William (Bill) was born in Worcester, MA on April 13, 1940 and he was one of three siblings of William and Dorothy Mitchell. He leaves his wife, the love of his life for over 59 years, Noreen Mitchell of East Brookfield, MA. He also leaves behind his sons John P. Mitchell and wife Christine of North Brookfield, MA, William B. Mitchell and his companion Lisa L. Marrone of Sterling, MA, Peter S. Mitchell and wife Kerri of East Brookfield, MA, and his daughter Mary V. Bettis and husband Jesse of Florissant, Colorado. He is predeceased by his brother Gerald "Jerry" Mitchell and leaves his sister Joanne Laflamme of East Brookfield, MA.
He also leaves behind his most dear and precious grandchildren and great grandchildren (with 2 more expected in May of this year!). Most people spend their lives dedicated to work, sports, hobbies, etc., Bill spent his life dedicated to his family in every single way! We are his lifelong work, his passion! Sure, he would go on fishing trips and vacations, but it was always with a family member (or extended family). He didn't care what he was doing or working on (and man could he work!) as long as he was with the ones he cared about. He was one of the most positive people you could meet with a can do, nothing is impossible attitude! He loved his fellow man and was a very forgiving Christian. All things are possible through God he would say. He had a smile and laugh that was infectious with everyone he met.
Bill loved his wife "Rene" unconditionally. They were inseparable. He looked forward to their yearly trips to South Carolina and Florida to escape the winter. He made friends everywhere he went, always finding a way to make strangers lifelong friends.
Bill loved to serve and help others. He joined the United States Army in 1961 and served with honor until 1965. In his years after he drove bus for the WRTA and joined the North Brookfield police department in 1977. He had many more occupations and ventures since then. Once retired he couldn't sit still and drove for Quality Chair Van caring for the elderly where and when he could.
