Gilbertville, MA- William L. Whitney age 89 died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his home.  He is survived by his wife, Jane M. (Cumo) Whitney.  He is also survived by a son, William L. Whitney Jr. and his wife Rita of Flower Mound, Texas, two daughters Lida Newman and her husband James of Cambridge, NY, Camille Whitney of Glens Falls, NY.,four step-sons;  David Irish and his wife Sheila Derrick Irish of Fort Edward, NY, Douglas Irish and his wife Joanne of Queensbury, NY, Dale Irish, Derrick Irish and his wife Melissa all of Corinth, NY.  , a step-daughter and care giver, Debra Darrah and her husband Bruce of Gilbertville, MA and two grandchildren.  He had a brother and sister that predeceased him, Bud and Mary.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT son of the late William H. Whitney and Rose A. (Priestley) Whitney and lived in Gilbertville for the past ten months, prior to that living in Schuylerville, NY. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII.  He worked as a Service Technician for the Agway Company in NY for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, concerts and travel.
