Alice R. Kitka, age 93, passed away on Monday May 1, 2023 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, CT.
She leaves her brother, Frederick Kitka, Sr. of Webster, MA, two nieces, Kathleen Kitka of Newtown, CT, and Janet Gentili and her husband Anthony of Thompson, CT; a nephew, Frederick Kitka Jr. and his wife Heidi of Thompson, CT. She was predeceased by her brother, John A. Kitka in 1990, and her sister-in-law, Sylvia A. Kitka in 2021.
Born in Webster, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Stasia (Sztukowski) Kitka. Alice graduated from Bartlett High School and worked at Massachusetts Electric Co as a field engineer until she retired in 1991.
Alice loved the outdoors. She was a nature enthusiast, enjoyed water and snow sports, and always had rescue cats and dogs in her home. She was also an avid reader, tennis player, photographer, and gardener. Alice belonged to the Southbridge Ski Club for many years, held a private pilot’s license, and enjoyed traveling cross country and overseas with her friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA on Monday, May 8 at 10 a.m. Meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Joseph Basilica, or The Community Cat Connection in Webster.
