Anna Stavropoulos Obituary

Milford - Anna Stella Stavropoulos passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023. She was 89. Anna was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 23, 1933. She was preceded by her beloved husband Constantine (Costa) Stavropoulos, her father Louis Lenton and mother Cleo Lenton-Flaskis. Her stepfather Comninos (Cosmas) D. Flaskis. Her brother and his wife, Tony and Maria Lenton. Her sister and husband, Aspicia and Harry Mavrogeorge. Her nephew, George Mavrogeorge. Her great-nephew, Timothy Mavrogeorge and great niece Tia Marie Mavrogeorge.

She is survived by her children Sophia and her husband Richard Bethune of Cumming, GA, Helen and her husband Keven Cloutier of Uxbridge, MA. Her son Ted Stavropoulos and his wife Melissa of Milford, MA., and her son Steve Stavropoulos and his wife Becky of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, CA. Also, survived by her grandchildren, Tabitha, Zackery, Brandon, Nicole, Devin, Stella, McKenna and Piper.

Anna was born in Boston and grew up in Brookline, MA. She was the 1st generation born in the US of parents who immigrated from Greece to the states. She was raised in a very avid Greek home. At the age of 12-13 she stopped her education to help her sister with her growing family. Mom has a special place in the heart of her 12 nieces and nephews. She also worked as a stitcher alongside her mother for many years. At the age of 22 she met our father Costa and married February 3, 1957. They were married 61 years when Dad passed. Our parents moved to St. Bruno, a city in Quebec, Canada and had their 1st three children. Mom also went to school to become a cosmetologist and proceeded to open her first salon, Ann’s Beauty Salon in Canada. She learned to speak French to be able to communicate with her clients. They then moved back to the states in 1968 and settled in Framingham, MA until 1972 when they moved to Milford, MA where Mom opened her second salon. Sophia had the great privilege to work with her for 14 years and with some amazing ladies. Mom was amazing. She always had her clients laughing and was a great support of whatever was going on in their lives. Her passion was to create beauty and to please her ladies.

Mom was an amazing person who taught us about gardening, painting, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering and so much more. Her most favorite thing to do was to entertain and being in a Greek household we never ran out of food. She always pushed more food on you even if you were full. Mom made chores fun. She would put her Greek music on and turn it up loud. She would stop working and teach us to dance with her. When she put her favorite song on, Misirlou, (Greek Goddess dancing), she would tell us the stories of how YiaYia had taught her how to dance this song and she then taught us. Her other most favorite song was, Never on a Sunday, (Ta Pedia Tou Pirea). She always said that this song was for her amazing 4 kids. She would sing along and dance and she was in her happy place. She was very proud of her heritage and loved speaking in Greek. She loved her faith and loved going to church and teaching us her family's traditions.
