Fitchburg- Barbara M. (Babineau) Carpenter, age 76, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Worcester.
She leaves a son, Michael Carpenter and his wife Mary Beth of Westminster; a daughter, Cheryl L. Mulhern and her husband Dr. Peter Mulhern of Ocala, FL; a brother, Chester Babineau of Pepperall; three grandchildren, Mary Victoria and Michael Carpenter Jr. and Jordyn Mulhern; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Carpenter Jr.
She was born in Fitchburg daughter of the late Adolph and Eleanor (Bouchard) Babineau and lived there most of her life. She was owner and sales women for Richard Paul Shoe Store in Clinton and was in sales in many furniture stores for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Fitchburg.
Barbara or Memere to many, loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was known for her warm smile and wonderful sense of humor. Even at the end of her life at the hospice home her humor shone through. During that time she was surrounded by an abundance of loving friends, family, and a serene view of nature when she said, “Isn’t this the best celebration of life !” Barbara was always in her glory while spending time with family, friends as well as having a spiritual connection with nature through her gardening. This was the joy of her life! She always reached out to her community sharing her time, delicious meals, creative crafts, and gentle self to many in time of need. Barbara always had a thirst for knowledge, taking multiple classes throughout the years in local colleges.
There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Leominster , Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11 AM. Omit flowers and donations may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Judith Rd. Worcester, MA in her memory.
