Barbara Randall Obituary

Barbara May Grace Randall, born May 17, 1940, in Washburn, Maine, was so much more than the facts of her life—she was a steady, loving presence, and to me, she felt like family in the truest sense. Though she was a native of North Brookfield and Rutland, Massachusetts, Barbara built a life rooted in connection, care, and quiet strength.

She dedicated many years of her life to her work, including over two decades at Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester and 38 years with Holloway Income Tax. Over time, what began as professional relationships with Fran and Kevin Holloway became something far deeper—family. Barbara spent countless holidays surrounded by warmth and laughter with those she loved, and she made every space she entered feel like home.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Donald Lenard Randall and Marie Denise Ethel Pruneau Randall, her brothers William and Merle Randall, her dear friend Norida Boxshus, and her son, John. While her losses were great, her capacity for love never wavered.

She passed peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Rochdale, Massachusetts, at the home of her nephew Merle and his wife Tanya, who cared for her with deep compassion and dignity in her final chapter.

She leaves behind a circle of love that extends far beyond traditional definitions of family—her nieces Annette McKeon, Barbara Toomey, and Mary Jean Berard, along with many great-nieces and nephews, and those of us who were lucky enough to be loved by her as if we were her own.

Barbara found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life. Some of my most cherished memories are the dinners we shared—especially our visits to Val’s Restaurant in Holden, where she would always enjoy her lobster roll and a Michelob Ultra. Those moments, filled with laughter, stories, and comfort, are ones I will carry with me always.

We are deeply grateful to her nurse Tara and PCA Megan from Care Central Hospice, whose kindness and gentle care meant so much not only to Barbara, but to all of us who loved her.

Graveside services will be private and announced at a later date.

Barbara’s love was steady, unconditional, and deeply felt. While I may not have been her daughter by birth, I was in every way that truly mattered—and that is a gift I will hold close for the rest of my life.
