Brenda Joyce (Hadis) Bernard

Worcester - After a brief illness, Brenda Joyce (Hadis) Bernard was called home on January 21, 2021. She was born in Whitinsville, MA on November 5, 1946 and was raised in Oxford, MA by her parents Jeannette (Greene) and Miklos Hadis.

Brenda was extremely proud of her 48-year career at St. Vincent Hospital – most of which was spent working in the Maintenance and Engineering department. She loved working with her team of guys, overseeing the inner systems that keep the hospital operational.

It was at St. Vincent that Brenda met her husband, Blanchard (Bernie) Bernard. Together they welcomed one daughter and called Worcester home. They enjoyed entertaining, cooking and baking, shopping and decorating. Brenda and Bernie loved culture, the arts and traveling - taking trips throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe. They were a very popular couple whose home was always open to their wonderful, diverse friends.

Brenda was a longtime member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she worshiped and enjoyed the music program. She was an active part of the church, covering the church office, participating in bake sales, cooking for parish gatherings and representing the parish at community events. 

Brenda leaves behind her beloved daughter Marie Bernard-Cook, her very dear son-in-law Jason Cook, her much adored siblings and their spouses: Christina and William Blackwell, Gratia and Mark Gosselin, Matthew and Carolyn Hadis. She also leaves behind her treasured nieces and nephews: Gabriella and Joshua Blackwell, Alicia and Nick Tela, Hannah and Emma Gosselin, and Cassandra Hadis. Brenda also leaves behind a robust group of extended family & friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Bernie, her parents and a sister Sandra Hadis.

Out of an abundance of caution for Covid-19, a memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of sending flowers to the family, please consider sending a donation in Brenda's memory to All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street in Worcester, MA 01609.
