Woodstock, CT- Bruce (Spanky) R. Alexander Jr. age 56 passed away suddenly,Wednesday May 13, 2020 at his job in Hopedale, MA. He leaves his companion, Donna Carroll of Woodstock, his mother Yvettte A. (Cournoyer) Alexander of North Grosvenordale, CT. Spanky also leaves three sons; Zachary Alexander of Wichita, Kansas, Tyler Alexander, Dayville, CT, Noah Alexander and his wife Abigal of Dallas, Texas, three brothers, Russell Alexander of Eastford, CT, Arthur Alexander of Oneco, CT and Scott Alexander of Canterbury, CT, three sisters Christine Auger of Killingly, CT, Kelly Barber of Jewett City, CT and Sherry Mattson of Auburn, MA. Bruce had one granddaughter Kinsley Claire.
He was born in Webster, MA son of Yvette A. (Cournoyer) Alexander and the late Bruce R. Alexander Sr. and lived in Woodstock for the past 12 years, prior to that living in Attawaugan, CT. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was employed at the DC Bates Equipment in Hopedale, MA where he worked as a Fabricator. Spanky had many talents, from welding, fabricating and building homemade smokers. He understood the science to good barbecue. Some of his joys were cooking, deep sea fishing, gardening, helping friends and family. He was a member of the Valley Springs Sportsmen Club and American Legion both in North Grosvenordale, CT. He worked on the crew cooking the monthly breakfasts at the legion. There are no calling hours. Services and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Please omit flowers and make donations in his memory to the Valley Springs Sportsmen Club , 65 Valley Rd., North Grosvnordale, CT 06255 or the American Legion, 17 Thompson Hill Rd., North Grosvenordale, CT. 06277. A drive up chicken barbecue will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 5 - 7 PM or till they are sold out, at the Valley Springs Sportsmen Club. Monies that will be raised will benefit the family towards expenses.
