Moosup, CT. - Calvin G. Gilmore Sr., age 67, died Friday, June 17, 2016, at his daughters residence in Plainfield, surrounded by his family.

He leaves his former wife and life long friend, Joann Wilfong of Occum; two sons, Calvin G. Gilmore Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Sterling, Aaron W. Gilmore of Wauregan; two daughters, Bel "Belinda" Lemieux and her husband Jeffrey Sr. of Plainfield, Heather Carchidi and her husband Michael of Sterling; one brother, Johnny Maze of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Pearl Cargene of Plainfield, Sue Smith of Rhode Island and Maryjane Evans of Baltic; four grandchildren, Mercedes House of Plainfield, Logan Giangrasso of Preston, Griffin Carchidi of Sterling and Bryce Carchidi of Sterling; two great-grandsons, Bentley Boisse of Plainfield and Kelton Giangrasso of Preston; several nieces, nephews and his extended family.  Additionally, he leaves his life long friend, Donnie Carpenter of Pennsylvania.   He was predeceased by two sisters, Patty-Lou Maze and Sharon Steele.

Calvin was born in Mckeesport, PA, son of the late Cammie Gilmore and Lucy (Bopp) Weaver and he lived in Pennsylvania before moving to the Plainfield area over 40 years ago.  He was a general laborer and has previously worked for Staples in the Wauregan Warehouse.  He was a proud member of the American Legion, Post 91 in Moosup, which was like family to him.  He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed fishing, working on cars and roller skating.  He was also an avid fan of Classic Country Music.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to Hospice & Pallative Care, 320 Pomfret Street, Putnam, CT 06260.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster, MA.  A memorial guest book is available at
