Christine M. (Bernard) Castonguay
1948 – 2026
Christine M. (Bernard) Castonguay, age 77 of Putnam, beloved wife of the late Donald P. “Butch” Castonguay Jr. died Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Davis Place in Danielson, CT.
Christine was born in Millville, MA, daughter of the late Albert P. and Marcella (Ledoux) Bernard and lived in the Putnam area most of her life.
Christine was a homemaker and a member of the Living Faith UMC. She enjoyed music and loved singing in the choir. She was the Community Meal Coordinator for many years. Chris was a stellar card player and joined the Hand and Foot Canasta card group.
Christine leaves her daughter, Michele Comtois and her husband Mark of Killingly, CT; a son, Thomas M. Castonguay and his wife Rebecca of Austin, TX; a sister, Celeste McAllister of Kentucky and a brother, Jeffery Bernard; and her grandchildren, Tyler, Corinne, Kaylee, Christopher and Alyssa; her great-grandchildren Aubree, Olivia and Harper. She was predeceased by her sisters, Charlotte Bernard, Martha Bedard, Marie DeCosta and a brother, Robert Bedard.
A graveside service for Christine will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband “Butch”. Memorial calling hours and services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home & Cremation, 48 School Street, Webster, MA.
