Cynthia J. (Eno) Bessette
1943 - 2026
Cynthia J. (Eno) Bessette, age 82, beloved wife of William M. Bessette, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Cindy was born in Westerly, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Rev. Glenn T. Eno and Evelyn (Depeau) Eno. She was raised in a faith-filled home, and her love for the Lord remained the cornerstone of her life.
On October 21, 1968, she married the love of her life, William M. Bessette. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion, sharing over 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Cindy was a dedicated registered nurse for over 50 years. Throughout her long and compassionate career, she served in retirement homes, public and private schools — including Woodstock Academy as an educator — and as a public health nurse for the Town of Sprague. She also worked as a home health nurse, handled workers’ compensation cases for Foxwoods Resort Casino, and ultimately concluded her career as the Human Resource Director at Backus Hospital. Caring for others was not simply her profession, but her calling.
Cindy was a woman of deep faith and joyful spirit. She loved attending Bible studies and sharing her love for Jesus with those around her. She had a gift for connection and community, serving as the social director of her activities club in Florida, where she organized gatherings and brought people together with warmth and enthusiasm. She enjoyed thrifting, playing Scrabble, spending time with her beloved dogs, and most of all, being with her family.
In addition to her husband, William M. Bessette of Plainfield, Cindy leaves two sons: Steven Bessette of Brooklyn; and Marshall Bessette and his wife Stephanie of Woodstock. She was also a cherished grandmother to Parker Bessette, Gabriella Bessette, Nicholas Bessette, and Jason Daniels, along with several other grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. Private funeral services will be held at Packerville Baptist Church in Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cindy’s memory to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home & Cremation, 48 School Street, Webster, has been entrusted with Cindy’s arrangements. A memorial guest book is available at www.shaw-majercik.com
